ADHD, ANXIETY DISORDERS & TRAUMA IN CHILDREN & YOUTHS: WHAT THEY ARE & WHAT TO DO

This workshop is designed for caregivers and professionals who work with children and youth who may experience Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety related concerns, and history of trauma.
The workshop consists of two parts:
Part One - Workshop with Dr. Helen Rosenauer: Didactic teaching in the differential symptomatology and treatment recommendations for ADHD, anxiety disorders, and trauma related concerns.
Part Two - Expert Panel Q & A with Dr. Helen Rosenauer, Ed Chen and PJ Lewis: Live Q & A where participants can present their specific questions to the expert panel.
This interactive workshop combines didactic teaching with the opportunity for participants to present questions in order to receive recommendations from an expert panel. The workshop is meant to provide information and potential recommendations for professionals and caregivers when working with and caring for youths and children.
This workshop is pre-approved for 4 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA-ACCP).

ABOUT the presenter
DR. HELEN ROSENAUER, BSC (HON), MD, FRCPC
Dr. Helen Rosenauer is a licensed psychiatrist with a specialization in children and youth psychiatry. Well renowned and respected throughout BC and Canada, Dr. Rosenauer has experience serving as the lead consulting psychiatrist for a number of provincial initiatives, such as the Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Program of BC, and Child and Youth Mental Health of BC. Furthermore, She has also provided her extensive expertise in child psychiatry as the consulting psychiatrist at BC Children's Hospital and the BC Youth Forensic programs.
In addition to her direct clinical work, Dr. Rosenauer is also an avid and expert educator. She currently serves as the clinical skills instructor for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital, where she is the clinical skills instructor specializing in psychiatry in remote outreach clinics.
Dr. Rosenauer is also an active member of the Canadian and BC Psychiatric Association, the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the BC Medical Association and the Canadian Medical Association.
ABOUT THE panel
PJ LEWIS M.ED, RCC, CCC
PJ is a Registered Clinical (RCC) and Canadian Certified (CCC) Counsellor. PJ has particular expertise in providing individual, group and family treatment to high-risk youth and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis and addictions. PJ also has specialized training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), integrating trauma treatment into DBT, and has extensive background in DBT program implementation for youths and adults in government agencies, and community services, school boards, and educational institutions.
ED CHEN M.ED, RCC, CCC
Ed is a BCACC registered and CCPA certified clinical counsellor. Ed has extensive experience in delivering Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to high-risk youths and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, and addictions. Ed has also worked in both the educational system and community settings with immigrant youths, youths with behavioral concerns, and youths with special needs. Ed also has considerable background in DBT program development in government agencies, community services, and schools. Ed’s DBT Program for Young Parents in Schools was recently nominated for a Premier’s Award for innovation.
