DBT WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS


The 3 day DBT workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children and youths who may be experiencing chronic mood dysregulation, self-harm behaviours, relational conflicts, crisis oriented family dynamics and cluster B personality traits.

The workshop is set up to help caregivers to gain knowledge in the skills in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. It is meant to equip parents with the tools to help their children, improve their relationships with their children and decrease conflicts within the home.

This interactive training combines didactic teaching with real-life scenarios, multi-media tools, role-plays and experiential learning with real-life scenarios in order provide a relevant and hands-on learning experience.

ABOUT THE TRAINERS

PJ LEWIS M.ED, RCC, CCC

PJ is a Registered Clinical (RCC) and Canadian Certified (CCC) Counsellor. PJ has particular expertise in providing individual, group and family treatment to high-risk youth and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis and addictions. PJ focuses his practice from an interpersonal approach with thoughtful integration of cognitive and behavioural, skill-based strategies. PJ also has extensive specialized training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

ED CHEN M.ED, RCC, CCC

Ed is a BCACC registered and CCPA certified clinical counsellor. Ed has experience working in modalities such as Early Psychosis Intervention and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Ed provides individual, group and family treatment to high-risk youths and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, and psychosis.  In addition, Ed has also worked in both the educational system and community settings with immigrant youths, youths with behavioral concerns, and youths with special needs.
