5 day comprehensive training DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOUR THERAPY
The 5 day comprehensive training is designed for therapists, clinicians and mental health practitioners to gain knowledge in the theory, strategies, and skills in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. This interactive training combines didactic teaching with role plays, multi-media tools, and experiential learning in order provide a hands-on experience. It is meant to provide the foundation and tools for therapists to begin implementing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in their own practices.
The training requires participation in all 5 days, and participants are recommended to hold a Masters degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology or equivalent. This training is pre-approved for 30 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA-ACCP).
Adopt the theory and practice of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Understand the background and development of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Illustrate the bio-social model of emotion dysregluation
Implement Dialectical Behaviour Therapy principles and strategies
Define problems through a behavioural lens and conduct chain analysis
Learn and apply the different levels of validation
Incorporate the diary card and implement phone coaching protocols
Assess for suicide risk and generate solutions for problem behaviours
Structure a consultation team and skills group

ABOUT THE TRAINERS
PJ LEWIS M.ED, RCC, CCC
PJ is a Registered Clinical (RCC) and Canadian Certified (CCC) Counsellor. PJ has particular expertise in providing individual, group and family treatment to high-risk youth and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis and addictions. PJ focuses his practice from an interpersonal approach with thoughtful integration of cognitive and behavioural, skill-based strategies. PJ also has extensive specialized training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
ED CHEN M.ED, RCC, CCC
Ed is a BCACC registered and CCPA certified clinical counsellor. Ed has experience working in modalities such as Early Psychosis Intervention and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Ed provides individual, group and family treatment to high-risk youths and families experiencing concerns such as suicidality, self-harm, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, and psychosis. In addition, Ed has also worked in both the educational system and community settings with immigrant youths, youths with behavioral concerns, and youths with special needs.
